| Additional Recruiting Strategies on Campus
“Prepare for the Fair” Event
This event is held each semester the week prior to the Career Networking Fair. Employers are invited to present a career topic (eg. interviewing, job searching). This is a great recruitment strategy for organizations wanting to increase their visibility on campus and “brand” their name with students!
Employer of the Week (College of Engineering & College of Business)
This event allows employers recruiting Engineering and/or Business students to set up a table in a high student traffic area at the College of Engineering and/or College of Business. The Employer of the Week provides the employer an informal opportunity to meet with students and promote their organization on campus.
Information Sessions
This activity gives the employer a chance to provide interested candidates basic information about their organization (i.e. current opportunities, general profile information, work culture, career paths, jobs benefits, interview process, etc). The most successful Information Sessions are held on campus, provide refreshments, and allow time for candidates to ask questions and network with recruiters. In addition, door prizes and give-aways are also popular with students. Many employers choose to hold their Information Session prior to an on-campus interview, usually within 2 to 3 weeks of your interview date.
Information Sessions can be held at the Marshall Center (Student Union), College of Business or College of Engineering.
To reserve a date for your Information Session at the:
Marshall Student Center (Student Union), contact Barbara Davis Phone: (813) 974-9906
College of Business, contact Megan Hendricks Phone: (813) 974-5162
College of Engineering, contact: Eva Fernandez Phone: 813-974-9503
Invitation-only Information Sessions
Some employers choose to host an information session the evening prior to their on-campus interviews in order to brief students about the company. These sessions would still need to be reserved either with the Marshall Center or the College of Business. Since these sessions are only open to students participating in interviews the next day, we recommend the company handle the invitation process directly with students.
Careers a la Cart & Employer Ride-along Program
The Career Center’s Careers a la Cart event is a great way to outreach to students on campus! It provides a unique venue, via golf cart, to reach students where we would not normally have access. Each week, we invite an employer to join us as a “ride-along” to provide outreach opportunities, which benefits employers as well as students. The event is two hours long and takes place outside, and is subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather. If interested in participating, please contact Cynthia Newhouse at 813-974-9722 or cnewhouse@admin.usf.edu. Careers a la cart video clip
Student Organization Presentations
Many student organizations welcome recruiters and companies to speak at their meetings regarding career-related topics. This is a great activity to brand and pre-screen potential candidates.Requests to present are made directly to the student organization. For a list of student organizations and contact Information click here. (Clicking the search button with "ALL" selected will give you a list of all the USF student organizations. )
Bull Market
Each Wednesday, from 10:00-2:00, vendors gather at Sessums Mall on campus (located outdoors near the Colleges of Business, Arts & Sciences and Education) to promote their products and/or services. This is an excellent way for employers to gain quick visibility.

Advertising in the Oracle Student Newspaper
Advertising in USF's official student newspaper, the Oracle, is a great way to promote your organization. The Oracle is published Monday-Friday during Fall and Spring semesters and twice weekly during the summer. Employers get reduced rates for advertising in the Career Center’s Career & Job Search Guide published the week before the Career Fairs.
If you are interested in participating in any of these activities, please contact a member of our employer relations team at 813-974-2171.
