| Federal Work Study (FWS) Information for USF Departments
(On-campus Departments & Community Service Agencies) Making the Most of Your Spending Authority Allocation! Overview: Just before the beginning of every academic year, on-campus departments are given an FWS budget, called Spending Authority (SA) allocations, to which they must adhere. Departments can then use this SA allocation to determine how many FWS positions they are able to hire. New openings must be advertised through Careers@USF. All positions must include a job description. Students must have accepted their award and provide a print out of their OASIS award screen to the hiring department. The department is responsible for staying within the SA allocation and the student's award. If departments go over their FWS SA allocation and/or the student's award, they must cover the overage with Vice President/Dean area or departmental funds.
