Cover Letter Help

A cover letter introduces you and your resume to a prospective employer when you are not present.  Each letter is personalized to focus on how your qualifications enable you to meet the employer’s needs in the position for which you are applying.

Some key points to remember when writing your cover letter:

  • Written in business letter format
  • Customized for each position and employer…NEVER mass produce
  • Focus on what makes you the best candidate. What makes you unique? In other words, why should they hire you?
  • Why this employer? What makes you want to work for them (be specific)?
  • Address to a specific person and job title, not “To Whom it May Concern” or “Human Resources Director”
  • Use positive and confident language
