Public Service Career Fair
Date TBA

The Public Service Career Fair is a great way to network face-to-face with employers from government, healthcare, law enforcement, non-profit and other public service fields. These employers are interested in hiring USF students and graduates for full-time, Co-op and internship positions.

Career Fairs are free of charge to USF students and alumni. Because there are so many employers all in one place on the same day, Career Fairs are a very efficient use of your job search time.

The Public Service Career Fair, co-sponsored with the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement is open to all USF students. USF Alumni with a Career Center Alumni Services account are also eligible to attend. This Career Fair is held in spring semester in the Marshall Center Student Ballroom (MSC 2100).

Career Fairs are a great opportunity to:

  • Discuss employment openings with employers
  • Distribute your resume (bring at least 10 -15 copies of laser quality with you)
  • Discuss your qualifications, skills and academic background
  • Obtain company information/business cards of the organizations that interest you

DRESS CODE: Professional attire for men and women is required at the Career Fair. Suits preferred. Minimum of long-sleeved shirt, dress slacks and tie for men. Suits, pant suits and dresses with sleeves for women. Job seekers in casual attire will not be admitted.

What to do before a Career Fair:

  1. Research websites of employers who will be attending.
  2. Update your resume.
  3. Attend Career Fair Tips workshops.
  4. Read "Making the Most of the Career Networking Fair" and "How Competitive are you in Today's Economy?" and view Networking at a Career Fair.
  5. Prepare and rehearse a one-minute introduction or "elevator speech."
  6. Anticipate and practice answering possible questions.
  7. Put together your professional attire for the Fair.
  8. Learn Career Fair etiquette.
