Resume
Help
Every student should have a resume - it's one of the most important tools in your job search kit. You’ll need one to apply for part-time jobs, Co-op or internship positions, as well as full-time positions and graduate school. You will also need one to activate an account in Career Connections, the Career Center’s on-line job search service. Don’t wait until you see a great job or hear about a fantastic scholarship and then write a resume in a hurry. Usually, the end result is a poorly written resume that lacks polish. Remember that a resume template is just a guideline and shouldn’t be the finished product. It’s a good idea to have a career counselor look over your resume, as this will be the base for all of your future ones. All you’ll have to do after that is update the content as you gain new skills, knowledge and experience! Please use the resources listed below, preferably in the order given, before bringing your resume in to be reviewed by a career counselor. Doing some of the preliminary work on your resume beforehand may eliminate the need for time-consuming follow-up critiques.
* Resume formats may vary depending upon major or career choice. Check with your career counselor to be certain. |
